The Rock Island Fitness and Activity Center held an underwater egg hunt for the kids

The kids are getting into the Easter spirit early this weekend as they hunt for eggs in the pool.

The Rock Island Fitness and Activity Center held an underwater egg hunt for the kids.

The event was canceled last year due to the pandemic, but organizers have brought it back this year.

Nikki Carr is the community recreation manager and said the group sizes were smaller than in other years.

“We offered it in small groups this year, we have things spaced out, we don’t have attractions like the Easter bunny isn’t there, it might get too crowded for that, so some things are a bit different, but the event itself is still the same,” Carr said.

William Deaner was one of many children to attend the party.

“I have to pick eggs and they were full of water, I thought there was candy in them,” Deaner said. “I wasn’t going underwater, I was just getting eggs and I had so many.”

Dawn Deaner said she was happy to take her kids on an underwater egg hunt.

“Kids love it, it’s very unique and something different that not many places have, I believe,” Deaner said. “I feel like with the pandemic, whatever I feel more comfortable with, it hasn’t bothered me at all and they’re having a great time and they have to go out and do something like that .”

The hunt was $7 per child and all money raised will go back to the center.
