Sage Ridge School in South Reno today announced its new three-phase construction project, which begins in May 2021 with the groundbreaking construction of a 24,000 square foot student activity center. The second and third phases include a knowledge lab and a performing arts theater.
Sage Ridge, which is located on approximately 40 acres off Arrowcreek Parkway near Hunsberger Elementary School, is a private, non-profit school serving just over 200 students in grades 3 through 12. It currently has only two buildings on campus.
The new activity center is expected to include a 13,000 square foot gymnasium, a fitness center, locker rooms, a concession stand and several multi-purpose rooms.
“This upgrade to our campus demonstrates the significant commitment and investment that Sage Ridge School is making to aggressively advance and strengthen our athletics program and to elevate our academic and competition spaces to match the standard. excellence of Sage Ridge and providing our exceptional students with an exceptional experience and comprehensive well- education, ”said Sallie Armstrong, who chairs the Sage Ridge School Board of Trustees.
Armstrong added that large donations have helped the school reach this point in its fundraising campaign. About half of the $ 7 million needed to finance the building has already been raised.
School officials predict that the building can serve two purposes, not only expanding opportunities for students, but as a venue for sports tournaments and other university and community events.
Completion of the activity center is scheduled for the winter of this year.
