Putnam County Libraries Announce October Activity Schedule – Shaw Local

Putnam County Libraries has announced its October activity schedule for the following locations.

All District locations will be closed on Monday, October 10 for Columbus Day.

Hennepin, 214 N. Fourth St.

The bad craft of the month will be mini neon pumpkin monsters. Pickup is during library hours.

The Ballet Folklorico De Colores event will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 8 at Walter Durlet Boyle Park.

Cricut MakerSpace will be held all day Thursday, October 13 and Friday, October 14. Crafty adults are welcome at this one-day event. This month’s craft is Halloween Luminary Jars. Call ahead to reserve a spot.

The Incredible Bats event will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, October 21. Sharon and Dan Peterson will have a variety of animals, fruit bats, sugar gliders, hedgehogs and more.

Family Movie Night will be at 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 27; pizza and snacks included.

Homework help will be available at the students at the library during opening hours.

Granville, 214 S. McCoy Street

October Make and Take crafting will be available throughout the month. This month’s craft is Magic Tree House: Mummies in the Morning and Mummy Craft.

Fall Family Day will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 1 at Hopkins Park. The library partners with Rotary of Putnam County, as families with children from kindergarten to age 8 are welcome.

Paint and Craft Parties with Luct will be at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 11. The event is limited to 10 people. Call to RSVP.

The What’s New in the Kitchen event will take place at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18. Susan Glassman will discuss information on using air fryers, spiralizers, high speed blenders and electric pressure cookers.

The PCCC outreach worker will be at the library from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Monday, October 24. He will answer questions and discuss benefits and services available to seniors.

Creepy Pair of Underwear will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25. Movie and snacks provided

Granville Storytime will be at 1 p.m. every Wednesday in October. The event will feature stories and activities.

The Book Discussion Group will meet the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 1 p.m. There is no assigned book to read and the event is led by the group.

Putnam, 105 N. Center St.

Books and brunch will be held the first Saturday of the month during library opening hours. The event will feature food, books and friends.

Magnolia, 112 N. Chicago St.

Story time will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 1. The book will be Creepy Pair of Underwear

Mason Jar Lamp Craft will be at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, October 4

The Origami Assortment of Magic event will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 15.

Glow-in-the-dark pumpkins will be held during library hours on Tuesday, October 18.

Homework help will be available to students during library opening hours.

McNabb, 322 Main Street West.

Bad Art Craft, neon mini pumpkin monsters, will be on offer throughout the month. This craft is available for takeout and can be picked up during library hours.

Make and Eat Caramel Apple Dips will be available at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, October 5.

M/P Extension office Ag in the Classroom: Seasons of Leaves event will take place at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 12

The Origami Assortment of Magic event will take place at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, October 26.

Homework help will be available to students during library opening hours.

The A World Gone Bad: World War I event will take place at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 27. Historian Jim Gibbons will take visitors through the first of the two most catastrophic wars in our country’s history.
