Melton Borough Council invited residents to a ‘Let’s Get Moving Melton’ event in Wilton Park to promote activity and improve health and well-being.
The Melton Sport and Health Alliance, run by Melton Borough Council, has urged residents to get involved by joining the event on Sunday August 21.
Let’s Get Moving Melton encourages residents to “move more, more often” by introducing appropriate physical activity opportunities to the borough.
Cllr Malise Graham, portfolio holder for people and communities, said: “It’s a way for individuals and families of all ages to have fun getting active together.
“They can also learn about community services offered by Melton for physical activity, health and well-being.
“I encourage anyone interested in starting a physical activity or who would like to try a different way of exercising to attend the event and spread the word to others.
“I can’t wait to see everyone there.”
The council has partnered with instructors, groups, coaches and local sports clubs in the borough to offer people the chance to try out a range of physical activity sessions for free.
Venues and facilities will host events throughout the day including Melton Country Park, Waterfield Leisure Centre, Melton Sports Village, Age UK Leicestershire & Rutland, John Ferneley and more.
Throughout the summer, Melton Health and Sport Alliance will be promoting open spaces and parks in Melton.
They will also show how local ambassadors “move more, more often”.
If instructors, coaches, community groups or sports clubs wish to set up a booth or offer an initiation session to present their activity to residents, there is still availability.
