Beacon of Hope sets program and schedule of activities for September | News, Sports, Jobs



The Beacon of Hope has established its programs and activities for the month of September, including some early events for October. The Beacon is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Computers, fax machine and printer are at your disposal.

• The Food Bank every Saturday at 9:30 am The emergency food pantry is available when we are open.

• Wellness Committee – Monday, September 12 at 10 a.m.

• The Veterans Support Group meets the first Friday of each month from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm. Call 239-283-5123 to schedule an appointment.

• Strange Arrangement – ​​Monday 6pm – 7:30pm Lessons given, a musical experience.

• Funds/Communications meeting – Monday, September 19 at 11 a.m.

• Grants Committee meeting – third Thursday of the month at 12:30 pm Next meeting on September 15th.

• Pine Island Cares – Wednesday, October 12 at 10 a.m.

• Homeless Committee – to come.

• Alzheimer Caregiver Support Group – second and fourth Thursdays at 9 am at the Methodist Church.

• Yoga on Monday from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

• The Pine Island Boy Scout troop will meet Wednesday evenings at 6:00 p.m.

• GED courses take place on Tuesday and Thursday from 9 am to 2 pm

• ESOL courses take place every Monday from 7pm at the Beacon.

• Le Grenier (Thrift Store) will be open Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, starting September 6th. Donations can be made during these times. Every Tuesday, 50% off clothing, shoes and similar items. 50% off “almost all” Tuesday will be September 6.

• Wellness articles are now available on our website – beaconofhopepineisland.com. These articles are modified every two weeks. Past articles are archived for reading at any time. This article is about E-Cigs.

• Beginning September 14, there will be blood pressure testing at The Beacon on Wednesdays from 1 to 2 p.m. and Saturday mornings from 10 to 11 a.m.
