Baylor School dedicates Wilson activity center

Manager Scott Wilson ’75 and his wife, Susan, wereted no time jumping into the new outdoor pool which was dedicated in their honor under beautiful blue skies.

The new Wilson Activity Center features a plunge pool and platform, a wading pool for young children and campers, and a 25-meter four-lane pool for games and exercise, all overlooking the Tennessee River behind the Roddy Theater and the Ireland Art Studio.

Baylor Board Chairman Ryan Crimmins ’78 greeted directors and other guests at the ribbon cutting ceremony and delivered remarks acknowledging Wilson’s service to Baylor, as well as Faculty Dean William Montgomery ’92. Former board chairman Zan Guerry ’67 read a touching letter from former director Herb Barks ’51.

The Baylor Choir opened the event by singing “Peace Like a River” with the river and surrounding mountains as a backdrop, and concluded by singing the Alma Mater before jumping into the pool with the Wilsons. Guests were treated to festive red sunglasses and major donors received a GBR beach towel.

The new pool will improve Baylor’s summer programs, campus life for boarding schools and day students, and serve as an asset for faculty and staff and their families, officials said.
